Ready to F.L.Y.? | A Rookburgh Cinematic
With this project, we wanted to fully capture the atmosphere, scale, and immersion of Rookburgh at Phantasialand, a themed world that blends steampunk storytelling with one of the most innovative roller coasters in Europe: F.L.Y.
This cinematic was carefully built to translate the feeling of walking through Rookburgh into a visual experience. From the industrial architecture and steam-filled streets to the energy of the launches and the atmosphere surrounding Hotel Charles Lindbergh, every shot was designed to immerse viewers into the world itself. It is a bit of an older cinematic, so colorgrading wasn’t done on this one, but we learn and adapt every day to give the viewers an even better experience.
How did we film this project?
Filmed throughout two dedicated production days inside Rookburgh to capture the area during different lighting conditions and crowd moments
Used a Sony ZV-E10 combined with the FeiyuTech Scorp Mini gimbal for smooth cinematic movement through the narrow pathways and industrial scenery of the area
Combined the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 and Sony 55-210mm OSS lenses to balance immersive wide shots with detailed compressed shots of F.L.Y. interacting with the environment
Focused heavily on environmental cinematography by capturing steam effects, lighting details, mechanical structures, and synchronized coaster movement
Structured the editing and pacing around the emotional build-up of the music and the dynamic rhythm of the coaster itself
Who brought this project to life?
This cinematic was fully produced by FPMedia.
The final product?
An immersive cinematic experience that transforms Rookburgh into a living steampunk world, combining dynamic coaster cinematography, environmental storytelling, and atmospheric sound design into a production that captures both the power of F.L.Y. and the detail-driven artistry of the area surrounding it.
